"Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and announce to it the message that I will tell you."
Jonah 3:1-10
How quickly gossip and rumors spread! With the aid of the internet, I can hear about a scandal involving someone I don't even know on the other side of the planet mere minutes after it happened. And yet this very same power to communicate also is available to the Gospel. We live in a world where people who I don't even know and people who I haven't met will be reading this. I can hear our Holy Father's morning homily as if I was in Rome. How ready the people of Nineveh were for hearing the preaching of the prophet that his words traveled faster than his feet. We also live in a world hungry for the Gospel. Let us go and announce the message that Jesus has entrusted to us.
Am I open to hearing the words of the prophet when he speaks to me?
Lord, help me to hear your voice in my heart and the courage to let that word use my voice.
