Seeking Laborers

By Martina Ver Pault
Today is the memorial of one of the 36 doctors of the church, St Jerome...

"The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest." Luke 10:2

Today is the memorial of one of the 36 doctors of the church, St Jerome.  He sure was a laborer!  St Jerome worked for many years translating the Greek and Hebrew biblical texts into Latin. In the past over 2020 years, only 36 people have risen to that distinction of doctor.  But the Lord wants all of us to become saints, someone who is in heaven with Him forever.

Jesus sent the 72 out to work, so we know He wants us to work.  And Lord knows there is so much to do for His kingdom.  So many people are in such great need today—and in so many different areas of need, but the greatest need is love.  We all need to know Him, we all need to know Love Himself.  St Jerome was credited with saying, "Ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ."  The Lord does reveal Himself to us in His Word.  We can introduce others to Christ through our actions, our work for Christ.

In what way is the Lord calling you to work for Him today?

St Jerome, pray for us to Courageously Live the Gospel with great works and inviting others to work in the name of the Lord.
