"Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him."- John 3:2
If you have watched the show, The Chosen, you may be more familiar with this scene. Nicodemus is finally meeting with Jesus to ask questions about the miracles He has been doing that receive so much attention. Nicodemus knows Jesus is not acting alone, "for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him." Jesus confirms and continues to answer Nicodemus' questions. By having this conversation with Jesus, he is "seek[ing] what is above," but what is above is mysterious, as the Holy Spirit is mysteriously given to us in Baptism.
As Nicodemus "seeks what is above" by asking questions and having a conversation with a Man much wiser than himself; let us, too, seek to ask questions from those who are wiser and more knowledgeable. so that we are more confident in our conversations with those who do not know the Lord as we do. Let us not seek such information for our personal gain, but also for the glory of God.
How am I to seek the Kingdom of God in those around me?
Heavenly Father, help me to seek what is above in all that I do!

Caleb Malec is a first year college seminarian. St. Stephen's in Riverview is where he truly began to actively participate in a life with Christ.
