Luke 17:21-25
"For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day. But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation."
Between the priest scandals, contraception, homosexuality, transgenderism, and so forth, we are in a time where the new generations are doing exactly what Luke is talking about. Jesus is suffering and being rejected. Why? Because many people do not know Jesus, not really. Most non-believers see him as an important person in history, meaning they only know facts about him. I would dare to say, many of us know Jesus in a similar way because we have not had that moment in life that Paul experienced on the road to Damascus.
That life changing moment, where we were persecuting the Church one day, and then giving glory and praise to Jesus the next. Once Paul finally had that encounter, not with the physical Jesus, but the spiritual Jesus, he devoted his entire life to God. Therefore, if we are to transform these new generations, we ourselves must know this spiritual Jesus. Not the Jesus of the flesh, who we see in history books and who we know with our minds, but the Jesus who knows our hearts. Only when we know Jesus in this way, can we begin to transform the minds and hearts of these new generations.

With Deaconate Ordination being just around the corner, I have been praying about what this means. The whole idea that God is calling me, a sinner, to the priesthood. What I keep finding, is God humbling me in some way, each day, for His people.
Pray with us for the men and women discerning the priesthood and religious life. To pray for our seminarians by name or to find out more about the Diocese of St. Petersburg vocations office, click here.
