But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven." Matt 5:19
The word, "greatest," is thrown around a bit loosely in today's society. We like to go to extremes in our language. "That was a great play" or, "Now THAT was a great meal!" We like to compare things and question who is the greatest of all time. Websites will publish polls asking respondents who is the greatest athlete, what was the greatest team or biggest event. Today, we find Jesus in Matthew's gospel talking about the least and the greatest. None of us want to be least; we all want to be great. In Christian parlance, that means we can become saints. The saints obey and teach. They proclaim with courage and conviction. They gave their entire lives for our Lord. Were they perfect? No. Am I? Not even close. But we persevere in the good times and difficult ones, proclaiming the good news through our actions, through our words, through our very lives.

How do I invite and proclaim Jesus to the world?
Lord, give me the courage to have a deeper encounter with you so that I can share it with others!
