In today's Gospel we hear "Jesus Preach[ing] the Gospel"...
"The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel." - Mark 1:15
In today's Gospel we hear "Jesus Preach[ing] the Gospel" and calling the first disciples in Galilee. When I encounter these passages, it is easy for me to think Jesus only acted like this when He walked this earth. But I am constantly being shown this is not so. God continually calls you and me to be His servants, His disciples, to live our lives preaching the Gospel message; "The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel." By repenting from our sins and doing our best to rid ourselves of sin, we are drawn to a greater intimacy with Christ. This intimacy helps us to become disciples willing to leave our safety "nets" and follow after Jesus Christ our Lord.
In this new year, what are the ways you are going to rid yourself of sin to grow ever closer with Christ?
Heavenly Father, allow me to see You in all things and take away from me everything that does not lead me to You!
