Qualified in Christ

By Deacon Drew Woodke
In our societal structure, we operate on a universal scale of qualification...

Acts 9:17

"Saul, my brother, the Lord has sent me, Jesus who appeared to you on the way by which you came, that you may regain your sight and be filled with the holy Spirit."

In our societal structure, we operate on a universal scale of qualification. Like when you apply for a job, they might ask how much experience you have, or your highest level of education attained. Say you get sick. Everyone wants to go to a doctor who has a proven track record and success rate, right? It's how we operate.

But its not how Jesus operates. Today we read in the book of Acts about Paul, the man who while he was actively persecuting Christians, was called by God to be His disciple. And he went on to be one of the best Christian evangelists ever.

If God could call Paul, an evil man, to be His minister, what is He asking of you? We can fall into the trap of thinking that ministry should be left to the ones who are seemingly qualified. The ones with the degrees or have a deep prayer life. That's simply not true. Christ qualifies us and charges us to minister to others by our baptisms. What can you do today, whether in action or in words to minister to others?
