Mark 4:20
But those sown on rich soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.
I hated the initial stages of gardening as a kid. We would have to pick weeds and attack the earth. It took work! Turning over the earth, carving it up just so that we could plant. Here's what I've learned...good soil, unlike stony soil or thorny soil, is soil that has been overturned and carved up and set apart. This preparation of the soil of our hearts doesn't necessarily feel good. The preparation of the soil can be the tragedies and sadnesses, the frustrations or hurts we receive. However when the seed of the Gospel is thrown there—it truly does bear abundant fruit. May we allow the Lord to prepare the soil of our hearts to bear the most fruit for Him.
