Throughout this Easter season, we read from the Acts of the Apostles a remarkable account of the early, persecuted Church and her courageous members that sought to live the faith they witnessed and professed.
Today, for example, the Apostles stand before the supreme court of their time to explain why they are disobeying the Sanhedrin’s orders and continuing to preach in Jesus’ Name. These Apostles refuse to recant but state the truth; they obey God and not humanity; they seek to live their lives differently than the rest of the world. The Apostles not only witnessed the greatness of God but courageously kept spreading the Good News of Christ, despite its challenges. The Apostles preached and practiced not for a mere accolade but out of faithfulness and their desire for eternal life. These imperfect Apostles were ministers of a perfect message, so are we!
Today’s readings may lead us to an important question: do we believe what we tell others about Jesus? Hopefully, our answer will not be verbal but an active demonstration of courage to live like Jesus and His Apostles, conducting ourselves differently than the world’s ways despite the temptations we face.
My Lord and my God, I believe! Help me live my beliefs.
