"God raised this Jesus; of this we are all witnesses. Exalted at the right hand of God, he poured forth the promise of the Holy Spirit that he received from the Father, as you both see and hear." - Acts 2: 32-33
The joyous season of Easter is upon us! During the past 40 days we have been fasting, giving alms and repenting in order that we may prepare ourselves for the Resurrection of the Lord. Finally, the Resurrection has arrived, and we are now called to bask in the glory that our Savior has won over the grave.
However, Jesus did even more than defeating death and opening the door to everlasting life. The promise he gave to his apostles was that he would send forth the Holy Spirit. The Spirit animates us as Christians and gives us the resolve and zeal to courageously live out the Gospel in our day-to-day lives. However, like all graces, we must open our hearts to receiving the Spirit that Jesus has sent forth for us. The journey from the head to the heart is much longer than people may think but it is crucial for the reception of this amazing gift that Jesus has bestowed on His beloved.
Are we prepared to receive Jesus' outpouring of the Holy Spirit?
Lord Jesus Christ, heal and prepare our hearts so that they may overflow with the gifts of the Holy Spirit this Easter season.
