Paralyzed and Inspired

By Fr. Chuck Dornquast
It first terrifies me because truly I've been entrusted with much°

Lk. 12: 48

Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.

This passage has two effects on me. It first terrifies me because truly I've been entrusted with much°perhaps "more". I live in the country I live in, have financial resources, am gifted in many different ways in my life. Sometimes that realization can in fact paralyze us. It causes us to be afraid of making a mistake. However, that means of thinking overlooks the fact that what we've received we have been entrusted with. That these gifts have not come about by our own plans or desires yet are gifts given to us. This is the second effect°awe at what God desires to bring about by my life, awe that He is willing to use me. This effect doesn't paralyze me but rather inspires me to "lean in" to the awe-some work that my Father can bring about by the gifts he's given.

Did you know...

I'm unable to lock out my elbows. People who have double jointed elbows make me feel insecure. :) hahahahaha
