Our Personal Encounter Speaks Truth

By Israel A Hernandez
We are treated as deceivers and yet are truthful: as unrecognized and yet acknowledged...

"We are treated as deceivers and yet are truthful; as unrecognized and yet acknowledged." - 2 Cor. 6:8-9

"We are treated as deceivers and yet are truthful: as unrecognized and yet acknowledged." This is the life of a Catholic in our world today. Catholics are called hypocrites and liars, or told they need to get with the times. On the other hand, Catholics are also commended for the way they live, for speaking truth, and for not allowing the world to influence them.

It's so important to speak truth, even if we come off as deceivers. It's important to acknowledge the other and their beliefs, while holding to the truth of the Gospels. Our personal encounter and relationship with God will speak more truth than anything we try to say. The people in our world are no longer receptive to words of truth, but to the truth seen in the way one lives. Therefore, brothers and sisters, let us speak truth through the way we live out the Gospel message. People will acknowledge and recognize us if they are able to see Jesus within us.  Let our daily personal encounter with God be what guides and leads us. Then, people will want, desire, and wonder where all this joy and love comes from. We will know:  from our daily personal encounter with God!

Do I take time each day to encounter God? If so, how does this personal encounter give life to me and others?

Lord, we come before You, to encounter a love so unfathomable that when we encounter others, they can't help but be drawn into this unfathomable love.
