Mondays, ya know?

By Francesca
Usually, Mondays are monotonous and boring, but this is Holy Week!...

[Judas] said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief and held the money bag and used to steal the contributions.

John 12:6

Usually, Mondays are monotonous and boring, but this is Holy Week! So much is happening this week! Our whole Lenten season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving will culminate as we remember Jesus’ passion… and we will SOON celebrate His resurrection!

But… why do you do it? Why do you try to read a few more pages of the Bible than usual during Lent? Why do you go to a Holy Thursday mass, pilgrimage, or Good Friday service?

The intention matters. Judas wanted to sell the fancy oil, but not to help the poor. He was doing it for himself. As we enter into Holy Week, the most sacred days of our liturgical season, let us remember the purpose behind our devotions. Keep the heart focused on Christ.

How can I keep my heart focused on Christ throughout Holy Week?

Jesus, we care for you. We seek to keep our hearts focused on you in every action this week, and for the rest of our lives.
