Luke 6:13
When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named apostles
Has there ever been a moment when you felt like you were meant for something more? Jesus certainly thought so of the twelve apostles. When we think of Jesus' apostles, we may think of them as these grand figures who were smart and courageously stood up for the faith. However, before they were apostles, some of them lived humble lives as fishermen and others were hated by their towns for being tax collectors. In Luke 5:30, the Pharisees murmur against Jesus for eating and drinking with sinners. What does Jesus say in reply? "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those you are sick." As we live our daily lives, we must not forget to ask the Lord what he wishes from us. We as Christians are called eat at the table with Christ and become one of His disciples. If you feel stuck in your life, kneel down in prayer and ask God what he calls you to do and listen for His voice. In remembrance of the apostles St. Jude and Simon, let us ask the Lord what He wants for us and ask for the willingness to drop everything and follow Him.
