Looking Intently

By Andrew Zsebedics
How do some of the greatest athletes in the world, like Tom Brady, Usain Bolt, Serena Williams...

He listened to Paul speaking, who looked intently at him, saw that he had the faith to be healed

Acts 14:9

How do some of the greatest athletes in the world, like Tom Brady, Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Michael Jordan, and countless other greats, go on to become the best of the best in their sports?  All of these great athletes did not just wake up one day and suddenly become great at their sport, but they practiced intently. Paul, as he was sharing the Good News, saw a man who was crippled since birth. Interestingly, Paul did not just merely spot this man, Paul “looked intently at him.” Intently is a strong word to use and here, it was not an accident. Paul looked at this man with a deep, sincere, and eager conviction “that he had the faith to be healed.” And from this intentionality of Paul, this man stood up and walked! Aren’t you and I called to be more intentional with others? How can we become more intentional with the people we encounter, such as an acquaintance, a friend, or a family member? Who knows how that intentionality might affect that person you and I encounter.

How can I be more intentional to others throughout my day?

Lord, help us to see You in all those we meet this day.
