Let Me Introduce You To...

Let me introduce you to...

It seems like every weekend for the past 3 weeks I was at some sort of party or social that had to do with Christmas or New Years. And inevitably at these parties I would have at least one person say to me, "let me introduce you to (blank)."

As I reflect on these types of interactions, I can't help but think that they are nothing more than a temporary bond. What do I mean by that?° No friend of yours would say, "let me introduce you to my in-laws' cousins' friend, and hopefully by next week you two are scheduling monthly meetups for brunch." That's just absurd.

However, today's Gospel speaks of John the Baptist. And his whole aim in life was to prepare people to meet the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Not just for a temporary moment, but for all eternity. And as Christians we too share in that ministry to share Jesus with others. Could be with friends, family, co-workers, or even yourself. The holidays are over, and we're seemingly getting "back to normal", but the question for each of us today is, "have I been introduced to the Lord?" and, "will I allow that relationship to remain?"
