Laborers in His Vineyard

By Joshua Bertrand
It is important that we thank the Lord for that laborer who he sent in his vineyard...

Lk 10: 2-3

The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.

Looking around at the diverse congregation at my Church on Sundays always fills me with wonder. It truly is an ark filled with God's greatest creations, in the middle of this busy world that demands so much of our time, people have sacrificed that precious commodity of time to come and give thanks to God. Every person has a special and personal story about how they have encountered the Lord, and how that encounter with the source of infinite love and mercy has changed them, and has answered the deepest questions and desires of their life. However, something that usually every person carries in their personal story is a special person who helped them encounter that love. We all have this person in our lives if we stop to think about it, maybe a grandparent, parent, friend, priest, deacon, religious sister or maybe a complete stranger. Whoever has helped us come to know the power of God's love, its important that we thank the Lord for that laborer who he sent in his vineyard, and its equally important that we continue to pray that God continues to send more laborers into his vineyard, for the world will only be saved by his love.
