Keep Your Vision Fixed on Jesus

By Benjamin Harris
If you really pay close attention to what goes on in today's Gospel reading...

"Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them, not even around the door, and he preached the word to them. They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to him, 'Child, your sins are forgiven.'" - Mark 2:2-5

If you really pay close attention to what goes on in today's Gospel reading, you see an inspiring example of how to live a Christian life and how we can Courageously Live the Gospel. We see that there are men who knew Jesus was in Capernaum. They bring a paralytic to Jesus in hopes that something can be done for him. The amazing part of this is that even though many have gathered around the house Jesus was in, and there was no way they could get through, they went to such great lengths as to open the roof of the house and lower the paralytic man to Jesus. These men knew who Jesus was, knew of His healing power and, in the face of adversity, went to great lengths seeking Jesus. There is a lot to learn from this. If we keep our vision fixed on Jesus, no obstacle that Satan hurls at us can get in the way of us finding Him.

How often do we take our eyes off Christ, even in times of adversity?

Blessed Mother, pray that our eyes may always be inclined to the saving mercy of Your Son.
