Mk 9: 23
"Everything is possible to one who has faith."
Jesus tells us in this section from the Gospel of Mark that everything is possible with faith. Faith in the original Greek is pistis, and it can also be translated as trust, confidence, and fidelity. Jesus is speaking about more than just an intellectual illumination of the person's mind to his power. Jesus is asking us to understand that faith in him is believing in his Messiahship, in the Kingdom of Heaven that he is ushering in, and in responding to that in a trustful holistic fashion faith requires not only our mind, but our bodies as well. We must act as people of faith in the world in which we are called to serve, sanctify, and witness. We have the ability to live the richness of what Jesus is asking us, to live like the people of the Resurrection and Pentecost, living in a faith that meets every joy and every pain knowing of his love to his creation. Yes, everything is possible to one who has faith, but it takes the obedience of our whole bodies. The journey of faith is one of our feet as well as our minds.
