"And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left."
When we look around the world, we mostly see beauty, God's creations of life. As Christians we are called to love one another. There is another set of 'glasses' that we can see the world through, and it's not so pretty. War, violence, abuse, bullying, anger, hate. It can definitely be depressing if we stay focused on these.
Today's reading from Luke is somewhat depressing, and a stark warning. Jesus asks the disciples, (paraphrasing) remember the story of Noah and the flood, remember Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah? He continues to say that people will be going through their routine, and some will immediately be taken. Jesus is speaking of our end. We all have to be prepared for our end. We know not the day nor the hour, but it will come to all of us. It could be later today, tomorrow or in decades from now. But make no mistake…the end is coming. Get yourself spiritually in order. Make things right with God and your neighbor.
