Here I am Lord

By Fr. Izzie Hernandez
What does it mean to courageously live the Gospel...

"Here I am Lord; I come to do your will."  Psalm 40:9

What does it mean to courageously live the Gospel? It means saying, "Here I am Lord; I come to do your will." Not just to say this, but to live it out. Let's say you had a bad day at work. Can you take a few moments to say, "Here I am Lord; I come to do your will." Maybe you and your wife got in an argument. Can you calm yourself and say, "Here I am Lord; I come to do your will." Maybe you and your best friend just got into a huge fight. Can you take a step back and say, "Here I am Lord; I come to do your will." Prayer does not have to be long and elaborate. It can be as short and easy as saying, "Here I am Lord; I come to do your will." In difficult moments, frustrating times, stressful situations, or when anxiety seeps in, call on the Lord and say, "Here I am Lord; I come to do your will." This is courageously living the Gospel. He doesn't ask for all of our time, he simply asks for daily moments that we are willing to give Him.

Is prayer to difficult for you? Do you forget about God during the week? Is daily prayer burdensome? Can you say, "Here I am Lord; I come to do your will?"

Good, patient, and faithful God, teach us how to pray daily!
