I need to learn how to forgive those who hurt me...
Mark 6:56
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.
Do you think Jesus felt like a lottery winner here? If we look at the previous verses in this chapter of Mark we see Jesus being rejected. Now suddenly everyone wants to be his best friend! Kind of like the outcast who hits the lottery and suddenly everyone is his long lost relative!
But you know what? Jesus didn't treat any one of those people like they were putting him out at all. He didn't stop and say "I told you so" even once. He simply forgave and healed. He went from town to town and healed everyone he came into contact with. He got weary and needed rest but they found him, so he taught them and fed them and healed some more. I don't know about you but I need that example in my life. I need to learn how to be charitable in the face of people who disparage me. I need to learn how to forgive those who hurt me. I need to desire good fortune and health for my enemy. I guess what I'm saying is that I am like these town people. I need to be healed. The good news is that all I have to do is reach out and touch the tassel of his cloak! How about you, are you reaching out for Jesus today?
