Give God the Credit!

By John Morris
Are you open to sharing your faith?

Mark 7:37

They were exceedingly astonished and they said, "He has done all things well.  He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.

Most of us take our health and five senses for granted.  It's when we lose them that we become desperate for help.  Medical science is a gift from God.  I'm sure some of you have seen videos of both children and adults, who for the first time are given a hearing apparatus that allows them to hear.  Their expression and those of loved ones who witnessed it are priceless. It's true amazement and joy.   In Mark's gospel, Jesus encounters many people who need healing.  Earlier in Mark we read about a woman who is possessed by demons and needs healing.  Today we find a man who is deaf, and this malady has impacted his speech.  When Jesus heals the man, he immediately couldn't help but be excited.  When God does something great in your life, what do you do?  Do you shout it from the rooftops or do you keep it to yourself?  Do you give credit to the doctors, family members, your coaches or your own talent? Or do you give all the credit to Jesus?  Maybe it's a mix of both.  When an opportunity arises at work or with friends to say something about how Jesus is working in your life, do you take advantage?  Maybe you're uncomfortable doing that.  Why is that?  Our society today has changed.  It has moved from one that in generations past, was more open and accepting of Christians.  Today, its more humanistic.  Some say, " there is no God," or "you're infringing on my rights," or "you can't mix religion and politics."  That leaves us to keep our faith to ourselves.  We don't want to 'offend' anyone.  But that's not what Jesus wants us to do.  We should always proclaim the name of Jesus, for the miraculous events in our lives, and the little, mundane events.  By your sharing your life experiences and how God has worked in your life, you are being a courageous witness to the Good News.  We are called to be strong and courageous.  Life is a gift from God.  Let us always courageously give Him Praise!!!!
