From Our Abundance

By Zachary Brasseur
Have you ever received a gift from someone, and that someone said...

"For as Christ's sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also overflow." 2 Corinthians 1:5

Have you ever received a gift from someone, and that someone said "Oh, make sure you share this!" Usually, this kind of condition comes with a gift of sweets, alcohol, or any kind of food. This is good! Whenever we receive something good, we should want to share it so that others can experience the same kind of goodness.

This is the core of Christian discipleship. We are open to receiving from Christ, sharing both in His suffering and His grace. "Encouragement" can also be translated "comfort". Because we've been comforted by Jesus, we also need to share that same comfort with others.

What gifts has God given you that you can share with others?

Father, You have given me everything in Your Son. Do not let me forget those who do not know You.
