"For God who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to bring to light the knowledge of the glory of God on the face of Jesus Christ." - 2 Corinthians 4:6
In today's First Reading, Paul wants us to recognize how the Lord's Light can shine through the darkness in our lives. Jesus is the source of the Light and reveals the Truth of the Word made flesh. This Truth of the new covenant should bring us great joy that we are now able to encounter the Word of God. We do not have to go through an intermediary to learn about Jesus for now now we can simply spend time with the Scriptures. We can have an intimate relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is important to be knowledgeable about the Word of God, so we can go out and proclaim the Truth to all who long for a Savior.
When can I sit down to encounter and read the Word of God?
Come Holy Spirit. Lord, Your Word brings great joy to my soul. Help me take time to remove distractions, so I can encounter You in Your Word.
