If we ever want to hear Jesus break out his prophetic voice that cries out from the rooftops and cuts to the heart, then take advantage of a widow!
"They devour the houses of widows and, as a pretext recite lengthy prayers. They will receive a very severe condemnation."
Mark 12:40- 44
If we ever want to hear Jesus break out his prophetic voice that cries out from the rooftops and cuts to the heart, then take advantage of a widow! I can't help but imagine stirring deep in Jesus’ own heart the knowledge that his own death would leave his own widow mother abandoned and alone. How often he defends the vulnerable with the passion of defending his own mother. Yet he is also the son who takes notice of the love and sacrifice of those who give all they have.
Do I reverence the sacrifices of others? What if I give all that I have to Jesus?
Lord, help me to see others the way that you see them and love them as you love them.
