Do You Admire Jesus

By Israel A Hernandez
As we grow up, each of us has that one person whom we admire...

"There was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him, nor appearance that would attract us to him." - Isaiah 52:14

As we grow up, each of us has that one person whom we admire, who inspires us to be better, who never seems to do anything wrong, or who is strong in every situation. That one person we look at with wonder, pleasure, and desire to be like. But then comes the day, yes, the day when you realize they aren't exactly who you thought they were. For whatever reason, you begin to see them differently.

Now, you see their humanity, you see their weaknesses, you see their pain, you see them. "There was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him, nor appearance that would attract us to him." How is this possible? How was it possible to have Jesus, the Son of God, in our presence, and not be inspired, not want to be like him, not see that he was without fault or weakness? Maybe, it was His humanity, His suffering, or His ordinary death that kept us from seeing Him. Do you see Him now? If you didn't before, look at His Passion and the Cross. Behold the Glory of God! A God who became man, was tempted like us, but who never fell to sin. Admire Him, Jesus Christ, the fully human and fully divine, who died for you, yes, who died for you.

In prayer, ask the Lord, "Teach me how to admire Your Son, Jesus Christ, my Savior."

Lord, we pray for all those who don't know You, who have yet to encounter You, and who have yet to experience Your glory.
