Divine Adoption

By Jina Masters
For anyone who has ever done laundry, these words just don’t compute!...

“they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb”

Rev 7:14

For anyone who has ever done laundry, these words just don’t compute!   Dear Friends, this simple line has more theological depth than a daily reflection could ever do justice. Let’s attempt to at least scratch the surface. This verse is a testament to the faithful (saints in Heaven) that endured the trials of earthly existence and how they were able to endure. The washing of their robes points directly to the glorious Sacrament of Baptism. Baptism in the Name of our Triune God, whether received as an infant or as an adult is grace beyond what any human mind could grasp. This purifying of our souls is so profound because it is Jesus’ blood (The Lamb), sacrificed and spilled for our sake, that allows for us to be grafted on to Him.  We then, in the frailness of our humanity, through Baptism, become an extension of His Body, called to minister to the world in and through those trials of the earthly existence. Who could persevere in such a calling if it were not for the graces that flow from the waters of Baptism? I’m quite certain I’d fall flat on my face! Praise God for this Sacrament that welcomes us into the family of Christ and sends us out, equipped to love sacrificially, as His faithful!

How can your Baptismal call be lived out today?

Lord, please help me to be both consistently aware of my Baptismal identity and consistently responsive to the graces!
