Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man

"Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man." Lk 5:1-11

I constantly amaze myself with my lack of faith! I know and believe that we have a God who is love. He proved his love to me when he died on a cross. He reminds me of his love every time he forgives my sins. His love is faithful and long suffering. Every time I go to mass, he is there. Every time I pray, he is there. Every time I need him, he is there. I know and believe that there is nothing more important than God. Yet I am quick to forget him as soon as I move onto the next thing. I let so many other things get between me and my prayer time. And even worse, I sometimes treat spending time with this God who loves me so much as a burden and an obligation rather than my joy and my life. "Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!" How many lies we can believe that constantly tries to separate us from the God who loves us so much. Our God wants to spend all of his time with us. Can we make ourselves available for him?

Spend time with someone you would rather avoid today. Name and renounce the lies that keep you from prayer.

Stay with me Lord! For I am lost without you.
