Christ Wants You

By Isaac Cruz
Christ called Saint Matthew...

He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him. Matthew 9:9

Christ called Saint Matthew. Saint Matthew got up and followed. I know in my journey, nothing has ever been so simple, I overthink everything. From the time that Christ called me home to His church, it would take a little longer than half a decade to finally enter RCIA. Now that I am a seminarian for the diocese, passages like this really resonate with me. Christ calls sinners, not only to repentance, but to discipleship. That is, you and me. Man, woman, and child. In that discipleship, we are called out of our comfort-zone to minister to the forgotten of society. The ones that the pharisees of today overlook. We need not think that Christ is looking for the best or the holiest person. Christ is looking for the sick. Christ is looking for you. Christ is looking for your perceived enemy. Sinner and tax collector alike. Get up and follow.

How can you better follow the call of Christ and bring him to the sinner.

Author of life and Doctor of Souls, give us the zeal of Saint Matthew to follow you without question and evangelize those around us.
