"A new king, who knew nothing of Joseph, came to power in Egypt." Exodus 1:8
What happens when things are going great, and then suddenly they're not? This is what happened to the Israelites in Egypt. Finally, the promise that God made to Abraham, that his descendants would outnumber the stars, was coming true. Israel was indeed becoming a great nation. But a new king, a new power who didn't really care who the Israelites were or where they came from, rose up and he only saw something that would get in the way of his ambition. This is where Israel's story gets interesting. Is the promise real, or not? Will they continue to be a great nation, or will the whole thing fall apart? Entering a time of confusion and adversity, God's chosen people have to decide if they will give up, or continue to trust in God's plan. The fulfillment of God's plan doesn't always look the way we think it will. Maybe the plan wasn't quite finished yet. The same might be true for you.
What's the big picture of God's plan for your life?
Lord, help me to know that you are with me, especially when things aren't going the way I envisioned them.
