Called from and sent to

By Fr. Chuck Dornquast
It’s fascinating how much the Lord utilizes the community of believers...

Now there were in the Church at Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, completing their fasting and prayer, they laid hands on them and sent them off.

Acts 13: 1-3

It’s fascinating how much the Lord utilizes the community of believers. Time and again we witness the will of God being communicated and manifested through the corporate body of Christian believers. Saul and Barnabas are giving direction from the Holy Spirit through the church at Antioch and are docile to that Spirit. May we too have the courage to trust the Body of Christ at work in our Church.

How is the Lord using the community of disciples around me to challenge me?

Father, help me to trust that you are at work in my community of your disciples.
