By the Way, all of This Really Happened

By Zachary Brasseur
Does this whole thing about God and being Christian and believing in Jesus ever feel like too much of a philosophy...

"We ourselves are proclaiming this good news to you that what God promised our ancestors he has brought to fulfillment for us, [their] children, by raising up Jesus" - Acts 13:32-33

Does this whole thing about God and being Christian and believing in Jesus ever feel like too much of a philosophy? Sometimes the way we talk about God sounds like a lot of theorizing, and not enough experience.

Today's reading from the Acts of the Apostles might be a great way to ground our relationship with Jesus in reality. I encourage you to read this entire speech of St. Paul from Acts 13:13-43. The event of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection takes place in history, with blood, sweat, and tears. It's real, all of it.

Ven. Luigi Giussani liked to talk about the "facticity" of Jesus: He was a real man with real emotions and a real body, and He lived in a certain place at a certain time. This is indeed good news for all of us.

How can you experience God's "concreteness" in Your life?

Jesus Christ, Son of God, Son of Mary, keep me rooted in this present moment.
