Busy Bees

By John Morris
You know the phrase, "Everyone has skeletons..."

Luke 12:3

Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops.

One of my favorite movies is Gladiator.  It's a story of heroism, good overcoming evil.  One the most chilling scenes in the movie is when the twisted emperor confronts his own sister who is plotting to end her brother's reign as emperor.  The sister is a good person with love for her family and country, but is put in an awful position because of her demented brother.  The brother confronts her saying, "Busy bees, busy bees.  What have you been talking about?  You conspire and conspire."  He already knows the answer and threatens to kill her and her son.

Secrets are very hard to keep.  Gossip is very dangerous for all parties, yet it is something we often fall into unknowingly or even willingly.  You know the phrase, "everyone has skeletons in their closet." Secrets too. Many times these secrets and skeletons revolve around sin, either a sin you committed or one that someone committed against you.  These can lead to emotional or mental breakdowns, destruction of relationships and more.  Jesus reminds us in Luke's gospel, that God sees all.  God knows when you've been plotting against someone else; God knows when you've been cutting out of work early; God knows you've been using illegal substances when you weren't supposed to.  God knows all.  He knows your actions AND your thoughts.  Be honest with God and be honest with yourself and your loved ones.  When you start to drift into gossip or thoughts of ill will against someone, stop and say a prayer, repeating, "Come Lord Jesus into my heart."  Say it over and over again.  Then make a good confession today.
