Blinded by the Light

By Andrew Zsebedics
Imagine this...

". . . I was led by hand by my companions . . ."

Acts 22:11

Imagine this. It’s the end of the day and you’re ready for bed, so you flip the lights off so you can walk back to your bed. What’s the first thing you do? Usually, you’d stick your hands out to make sure you don’t fall and get hurt – right?  We celebrate Paul’s conversion today, where Paul was blinded after God speaks to him and directs him to go to Damascus, where his companions, with who he was persecuting other Christians, led Paul “by hand” there. Woah.

God had guided Paul, as he was blind, by way of Paul’s companions. How beautiful it is when we realize that we can’t live life alone. We need others, most especially when we are at our lowest. Paul, who became blind, needed his companions to lead him “by hand” to where God was calling him to be. God places people in each one of our lives to help lead us “by hand” to where He desires us to be, but we must first close our distracted eyes, listen with an open heart, and trust with open hands so that we may see, hear, and trust daily where Christ is calling us to conversion.

Who in your life do you turn to when you are at a low?

God our Father, help us to focus on you this day so that like Paul, we too may see where in our lives you are calling us to conversion.
