Be A Leader

By Caleb Malec
The famous Gospel of Jesus testing Simon Peter's love for Him...

"Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" Simon Peter answered him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." John 21:15

The famous Gospel of Jesus testing Simon Peter's love for Him, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter responds positively and Jesus commands him to feed His sheep. In other words, Jesus commands Peter to be a shepherd of the sheep, the flock, the people who are following Jesus and those sheep who are "lost." Jesus calls Peter to follow Him as a leader, not only a follower.  Likewise, in our daily lives Jesus is calling us to be leaders and to help the lost sheep find their way back. This task is not only for priests and religious but for all followers of Christ. Whether it is becoming more involved in a co-worker or neighbors life to leading a ministry within your local parish, Jesus is calling us, as He has called Peter, to "feed [His] sheep."

How is Jesus calling you to be a leader where you are?

Heavenly Father, guide my thoughts, words and actions as I strive to lead others to You!

Did You Know...

Caleb Malec is a first year college seminarian. St. Stephen's in Riverview is where he truly began to actively participate in a life with Christ. He loved to have fun with his family and friends, whether this was playing sports or going on adventures. Caleb was a missionary for two years, where the Lord stretched, pulled, strengthen and softened his heart through the sacraments and prayer!
