Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24
Jesus had to teach the impossible. He had to convince people to follow him, to believe that a man could be raised from the dead and that those who believe that he is the son of God will also have eternal life. On the surface it seems like an impossible task. Who would believe this man? After all he was the son of a carpenter. No man could do this; but Jesus could. He proved his word by performing miracles, such as making the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk, and even bringing a dead man back to life. After seeing this, how could someone not believe? Now 2000 years later, we still believe….but doubt can creep in. In the reading today, Jesus is trying to convince the Jews that he is the son of God, and that whoever believes in him will live forever. We see miracles everyday in our own lives, big ones and small ones. It takes courage not only to step out in faith and believe, but to tell others to do the same.

Do you have that courage to proclaim that Jesus is your personal savior and to share that with others?
Come Holy Spirit, guide me in my times of doubt and unbelief!
