Jesus said to his disciples: "Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. Luke 24:46-47
Have you ever read a good book and couldn't wait for the ending, so you jumped to the last chapter or few pages to see how it ended? Sometimes that can spoil the events and we gloss over the important details. Today's reading is the last encounter the disciples would have with Jesus. They could finally see the entire story, the puzzle if you will. They had lived with him, experienced the miracles and witnessed the story. But it was still so incredible to them that they still may have had some doubt. Jesus now presents everything in a concise picture, and said that the scriptures are now fulfilled, tying the old teachings to the new. He assured them that very soon the Holy Spirit was coming to accompany them in their journey. Then our Lord ascended into Heaven.
One day all of us will be called home to the Lord. With God's grace we will all experience that eternal reward and have our place in heaven.

What am I doing to proclaim his name and invite others to encounter Him?
Holy Spirit, open my heart to make time for you instead of worldly things!
