"What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" Matthew 26:15
Everybody loves a good deal. You get what you want at the price you wanted. Sometimes a bargain comes along that is just too hard to pass up. It's easy money. However, some deals come with strings attached. You know the phrase, "You get what you pay for." The bargain isn't as good as it seems. Such was the case with Judas Iscariot and the chief priests. Judas gets into a deal that he doesn't fully realize. He's tempted by among other things ego, greed, and pressure. He sells out our Lord. The sobering reality is that we do the same thing when we succumb to sin. Jesus paid a price for our sin. But we take it for granted. We sell him out. This holiest of weeks is a time for us to realize our sinful nature and to run to the cross instead of selling out our Lord.
Question for Reflection
In what ways do I betray Jesus with my sinful nature?
Lord I am sorry for my betrayal and look to you for forgiveness and mercy.
