A Tired Nation

By John Morris
When do you have time for God?

Matthew 11:28

Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest."

Seems like today we as a nation are burning both ends of the candle.  Have you noticed the morning news starts earlier these days than it used to?  Many of us are starting our days earlier be it work, exercise, or household responsibilities just to stay ahead.  Yet we're not going to bed earlier.  Then on the weeknights it's getting the kids to dance practice, baseball, soccer, football etc.  Then there's school activities.  Then weekends are back and forth to the games, recitals and birthday parties.  It seems like it never ends.  So when is there time for God?  When is there time for Church?  God makes time for us when we call to Him, but do we make time for him.  More and more these days Americans are putting other activities ahead of church attendance.  Studies show that less people are going to church today than any other time.  We care become a secularized society.   Yet when we go to work, most of us walk around like zombies, tired and saying, "there's never enough time in the day."  Then we become stressed and feel overburdened.  It can lead to real physical, mental and emotional breakdown.  We need to take time out of our busy schedule and rest in the comfort of the Lord.  For some, Sundays suffice.  But most of us need more than one day a week.  Try this week to spend at least 15 minutes one day this week in the chapel.   Turn on Spirit FM every day this week on the way to and from work.  Turn off the world and turn on God.
