A Different Perspective

By John Morris
They might see you as overbearing, selfish...

Psalm 146: 8-9

The LORD sets prisoners free; the LORD gives sight to the blind.

How do you perceive or describe yourself? Nice, accommodating, friendly, easy-going, passionate…I think many of us would say this about yourself, and we hope others would agree. But how we see ourselves might be different from somebody else who views you from a different perspective. They might see you as over-bearing, pensive, difficult, or grumpy….certainly opposite from what you perceive yourself to be.

We often get so caught up in our own little world that we become blinded by our own goals, aspirations, and accomplishments. When this happens it has the potential to have a negative impact on others around us, but we're so blinded by our own dealings that we can harm others. Remember, we are not to go through life for our own glory, but for God's. We are called to do God's work, not necessarily our work. If our work is God's work, then we are honoring God…the scales of the world that blind us fall away from our eyes so that we see compassion and love for others. God has gifted each person gifts and talents. Our biggest thank you to God or best way to honor Him, is to use those gifts and talents to the best of our ability for His glory.
