A Baby's First Steps

By Andrew Zsebedics
Do you remember your first steps as a baby?...

"Stretch out your hand."  He did so and his hand was restored. Luke 6:10

Do you remember your first steps as a baby? I certainly don't, but I do know that when a baby is taking their first steps, usually, their arms are wide open and/or reaching to the person in front of them. And the person at the other end of a baby's first steps naturally reaches their hands out to receive them. I find it so fascinating and so beautiful that it's so natural for humans to reach out their hands to receive the baby's first trek on their own.

I think that as adults, we can learn a lot from the youngest of our society -- babies! How often do we recognize that we aren't too different from a baby learning how to walk? Do we see that from the moment we rise, to the moment we rest our eyes, the Lord's arms are open wide and reaching out to us in the most trialing and joyful moments we experience, ready to embrace us and love us no matter if we succeed or fail? All He asks is for you to stretch out your hands and trust Him.

Where in my life do I need to trust the Lord more?

Heavenly Father, help us not only to love you more, but that you help us receive your love each day.
