As parents we all want the best for our children and will do just about anything to advance their cause. Society dictates that we all must be a success, and we want our children to be the best. The mother of the sons of Zebedee, namely James and John, wanted them to be the best. In fact, she wanted them to be seated next to Jesus. Jesus reminds them and her that it is God's will that will determine this. We all have a role in the advancement of the kingdom. God shall determine that. Do we need to live a life in Christ, loving others as God loves them and courageously proclaiming the Gospel? Indeed, but not for ranking of ourselves or for our own glory, but for the good of society.

How can I change my attitude from a "me first" to a "God first" attitude?
Lord help me to put God first in my decisions and actions.
