“We know that to celebrate a 50th anniversary is a blessing from God because many schools started but failed along the way. Fr Waithaka noted that the education system in Kenya is changing and the school looks forward to adapting to the modern system of education.
“The Kenya government is coming up with the new system of education and we look forward to working together with each and every one of our people,” he said.
He praised the early missionaries who came to Kenya over hundreds of years ago with an objective of eradicating illiteracy.
“It reminds us of the Consolata Missionaries who came to Kenya more than a hundred years ago...they had an objective, One of them among others was to eradicate illiteracy,” he said.
Fr Caroli Ouma, the Principal of the school also hailed the early missionaries for putting up the school that has today grown from a cottage school in 1967 to a fully fledged primary and secondary school.
“We are very grateful to the Consolata Sisters and Fathers who started the school in a humble way. It has today grown into a big school with the current number of children being 1,950. Indeed we are grateful to God,” he said.
He expressed optimism that with committed people running the school, it would grow to greater heights.
The Consolata School, located in Westlands Nairobi, is a private Catholic Mixed Day School run by the Consolata Missionaries.
