The Catholic Church-affiliated Agenzia Fides has reported the death of Fr. Joseph Mulimbi Nguli, 52 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Fr. Joseph was the assistant parish priest of St. Martin’s parish in the municipality of Katuba, Lubumbashi, the capital of Katanga Province. He was killed by unknown assailants, wearing balaclavas, in the night between 21 and October 22. The Italian based “Il sismografo,” this weekend, quoted AFP / La Croix about the death of Fr. An accountant of Caritas Basankusu was killed on 11 August;
Fr. Joseph Mulimbi Nguli was killed on 21 October.
In South Sudan
Sr. Veronika Terézia Racková was killed on 20 May.
In Nigeria
Fr. John Adeyi was killed on 22 June (?)
Seminarist Lazarus Nwafor was killed on 25 August
In Yemen, four Missionaries of Charity Sisters were among 16 slain by gunmen. Of the four nuns killed were Sr. Marguerite of Rwanda; Sr. Reginette of Rwanda and Sr. Judith of Kenya. They were killed on 4 March.
In all, 29 pastoral workers have been recorded as killed the world over since the start of the year. Of these, 13 are priests, 8 Religious, 3 Caritas workers; 1 seminarian and 4 Catechists.
