Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.
Today's reading has Jesus instructing the twelve on how to travel on a journey. Their journey is deeper than an overnight stay or going on a camping trip; it's a journey of faith. Jesus wants his followers to trust that all of their needs will be met. He also advises them that the journey may be difficult, and not everyone will accept their message. He instructs them to not wallow in misery of rejection, but instead shake off the dust from that place and move on.
Life is like that for all of us. There are times when we may not feel accepted, when we are ridiculed or we are simply not welcomed. Instead of compromising our beliefs and values, we should shake the dust off and move forward in faith. Does it take courage to proclaim the good news? You bet, but Jesus has given us the path to follow. How can you improve your daily faith journey so that you can overcome the obstacles and rejection?
