"Now, Master, you may let your servant go
in peace, according to your word,
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and glory for your people Israel."
Simeon was a holy and just man who walked in the way of the Lord. He recognized Jesus as the answer to his prayers. What does he say? He said his job here on earth was done. Wow, I wonder if I would ever say that. What this indicates to me is that Simeon was a man who lived completely for God. Simeon's will was so in union with God that he was willing to publicly state, as we have this quote even today, that when God called him home, he was ready and willing.
Let us pray today for all of our family members, deceased, alive, and those yet to be born, that we may all be together in Heaven. We can pray for peace in our families and in our communities. With faith and through Jesus, we will find that peace that only He can give.
