Luke 14:27
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
As any Christian can attest, deciding to live for Christ does not mean that all of your earthly troubles go away. Jesus Himself endured a horrible death even though He was sinless. However, in Christ, our suffering is given purpose and meaning. It can be something God uses to redeem the world. Like the Lord we follow, our crosses have power to transform us into more complete followers of Jesus. So, even though we may be tempted to shun and resent the hardships of this life, know that God uses them for the good of the world. Know that there is purpose in the pain.
