Brothers and sisters:
Hope does not disappoint,
because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

The world we live in is loaded with distractions. As I sit down to pray and find the silence I need to become aware of God's presence, I find myself thinking of all the things I could be doing. Trying to force those thoughts away doesn't help me very much, and giving up will only leave me restless.
Instead, as I remain still, I finally settle and it helps me to remember how nice it is afterwards, and how much better I feel after I have been able to rest in God's presence even for a few minutes. Hope does not disappoint, and we can rejoice in even these tiny triumphs knowing that God is always present for us, always with us if we but take the time to listen for Him.
