Well Intended Gifts

The other day I noticed a neighbor struggling

John 1:47

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,
"Here is a true child of Israel.
There is no duplicity in him."

The other day I noticed a neighbor struggling with loading a table into the back of her SUV.  I know her well, and I asked her if she needed help, to which she said, "Nope".  But she still struggled, so I walked up and together we fixed the seat so that the table would fit.   I have had that same answer so many times.  Someone offered help, and I immediately think: "Nope, I'm good."  Then I am reminded of words from a wise older woman from way back when I was young.  She said, "Accept someone's gift, because it is in the giving that the person is blessed."

Nathanael is curious about who Jesus is, and he asks questions including, "How do you know me?" to Jesus (vs 48) The answer of Jesus includes: 'I saw you'.  Jesus sees us too, and perhaps today we can notice someone around us who may be blessed by a helping hand, or a complement, or a smile from us.  These opportunities to reach out to others are gifts, well intended and hopefully well received.
